Psychoeducational Assessment

A psycho-educational assessment gathers information regarding strengths and weaknesses in various areas of cognitive and academic functioning. The purpose of a psycho-educational assessment is to develop new strategies, accommodations, and adaptations to improve learning.


Psychotherapy

Chris worked in the public education system for over ten years. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from University of Toronto, and completed his Bachelor of Education at University of Windsor. In 2007, Chris moved to Saskatchewan where he worked as a teacher while raising a growing family. During this time, Chris earned his Masters of Education in Educational Psychology from University of Regina. Following the completion of his masters in 2013, Chris has spent time working for public school boards in Alberta and Ontario while also managing a private practice. Michaël Nystrom is a Registered Social Worker (RSW) providing psychotherapy and counselling services at EDify Niagara in St. Catharines, ON. She offers bilingual support in English and French to children, youth, adults, and families navigating ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), anxiety, and depression.

With a background in teaching and early childhood education, Michaël brings a deep understanding of learning, behaviour, and development. Her therapeutic approach is grounded in evidence-based models, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and trauma-informed practice. She also incorporates behavioural strategies, emotional regulation frameworks like the Zones of Regulation, and visual tools such as checklists and timers to support executive functioning and self-monitoring. — Michaël works from a strengths-based, solution-focused perspective and integrates family systems theory to engage caregivers in the therapeutic process.
